The piano is one of the most popular and most diverse musical instruments in the world. The instrument has permeated through dozens of music genres, lending itself to create some of the most moving and emotional music pieces in history. The people on this list are the new masters of the piano and will be giants in the musical world in the future.  

Whether you recognize these musicians or not, they are all craving a place for themselves in the music business and will become influential and prominent figures later in the industry.

Daumants Liepins:

He is the winner of the Verbier Festival’s 2019 Vendome Prize. To win such a highly sought-after and prestigious prize is an impressive feat. The Latvian Pianist has set himself up well for the coming year. He is due to perform at the Riga Jurmala Music Festival in the summer, and will surely now bring high expectations wherever he goes.

Mariam Batsashvili:

Mariam first hit the international stage in 2014 when she claimed 1st place at the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition. Three years later, she became the BBC New Generation Artist. 2020 is looking like it will be an even bigger year for the Pianist, with multiple shows across Europe lined up. Keep an eye out!

Jan Lisiecki:

He may be just 24 years old, but he has already achieved more than most. Jan signed with Deutsche Grammophon at the age of only 15. He’s entering a new phase of his career now that his auspicious younger days are behind him. He has multiple concerts lined up worldwide throughout 2020, including at the Kölner Philharmonie, Paris’s Théâtre des ChampsElysées, Wigmore Hall, and many other world-class venues.

Alexander Gadjiev:

He was one of the BBC’s New Generation Artists for the 2019-2021 period. The scheme helps artists on the cusp of an international career reach the next stage of their development. Alexander will have the chance to perform around the UK, appear on studio recordings with BBC Radio 3 and take to the stage at the BBC Proms.
