A pianist, composer, and conductor, Mr. Lee studied at Waldorf College, Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, Eastern Michigan University, University of Michigan, and Claremont Graduate University; and taught piano at Eastern Michigan University 76 -79 , the Hong Kong Baptist University 80 – 92, and Bethesda University in California 94 -96.
Mr. Lee gave his first piano recital when he was 13 at Ying Wa College Hong Kong where he was a F.2 student, playing pieces by Beethoven, Chopin, some Chinese pieces, and Sinding. His professional debut concert as a pianist came in 1980 at the City Hall of Hong Kong, and was presented by the Urban Council. Since then, he has performed regularly as recitalist, soloist with orchestra, accompanist, and conductor in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, and many parts of the USA. Mr. Lee has performed as soloist with the Ann Arbor Community Orchestra, Eastern Michigan Symphony, Waverly Symphony Orchestra, and La Mirada Symphony Orchestra. Currently, Harold is the department head and Dean of Music at Chinese for Christ Theological Seminary in Monterey Park, and organist/choir director at Lutheran Church of the Cross, Arcadia.
Mr. Lee has taught a number of outstanding students in his many years of teaching, and quite a few of them are holding important positions at universities and music schools in Hong Kong and the United States.
As a committee member of the Hong Kong Chinese Christian Church Union in HK, Mr. Lee was instrumental in setting up a comprehensive package of musical training for the entire church population, as well as an annual penal discussion (dialogue) between pastors and musicians in HK under HKCCCU. Harold was the dean and lecturer at the Hong Kong Sacred Music Institute, the music chair of the HK Lutheran College (4 year college), and the piano chair of the International Music Institute which has educated hundreds of church musicians throughout the years.
After coming to the United States of America, Mr. Lee has been active in both Chinese and American churches, serving as organist and choir director.
